Becoming a Citizen or Member

We are always looking for people interested in joining our organization.

Who Can Join?

Anyone may make application for citizenship or membership. Every application will recieve equal attention, but not everyone can become a member or citizen.

Citizenship is based strictly on genealogy, and it is completely up to the applying person to prove to the satisfaction of the elders that he or she is genealogicly connected.

A person applying to be a member must show or demonstrate to the elders that he or she can or has benefited the tribe in some way of worhtwhile value.

Everyone is encouraged to come to the public gatherings and participate in the activities.  The cultivation of relationships and expression of interest is part of the process of becoming a member.

What is the difference between a Citizen and a Member?

A Citizen is someone who has a genealogical connection to and approved clan in the Seaconke Wampanoag Tribe.

A member is someone who may or may not have native genealogy but in no genealogical way has a connection to the Seaconke Wampanoag Tribe.

Benefits of Joining

There are several benefits to becoming a member of our organization. Our members and citizens are close friends and family.   We have a great time when we get together. Of course we also have a common interest, and we hope to further our cause.  View the Purpose page to understand what we are all about.

We The People of the Seaconke Wampanoag Tribe are tied together by this bond to seek out The Truth for the betterment of ourselves and our children.  It is for this purpose that we seek to redevelop this culture that was once cut off from us.  "Iootash."
